NABGC Cross Country Championships

On Saturday the NABGC Cross Country Championships took place at Layer Marney, Colchester, hosted by Essex Boys and Girls Clubs.

This year we had 94 runners take part and compete for national titles, coming from local Essex and London clubs as well as travelling from as far as Durham!

The first horn sounded at midday, which saw the U11’s head off on their 2,000m race around the stunning site of Layer Marney. The races continued throughout the afternoon, with distances getting longer for the U13’s, U15’s and the U17’s.

With young people crossing the finish line splattered in mud, a well deserved hot drink and hot dog were on offer whilst the results were calculated and awards given out.

Well done to everyone who took part, and congratulations to our new national cross country champions! It was fantastic to see the togetherness that each club had to push each other on.

A massive thank you must go to all of the leaders, parents and volunteers that gave up their time to bring young people to the event and help make it happen. A special thank you to the Colchester Voluntary Police Cadets who were are marshals out on the course.
